good game...2 problems A LOT the the guys like devin hester shawn meriman didnt have there pics in madden 08 for PS2 :( that kinda sucks...also I had to make huge roster changes.. like putting culpepper and darius with the raiders.. and duce staley with the steelers....hope you guys at EA can change this stuff next year. :) THANX!

Got it... leaps and bounds ahead of the previous nex-gen incarnations of Madden. You've got a great engine to work with, Ian. Now it's about ironing out some nuances (fumbles, superhuman DBs/LBs) and getting the presentation/online leagues/extended customization options packed together and we have ourselves the best sports game ever made. Kudos to you and your team. You've made it fun to play football again.

The game plays much better than last year, but you guys seriously hurt PS3 owners at 30 fps. And get that radio announcer out of there(so generic). We want TV style presentation!

my 360 died last week so im waiting for it to come in before i go get mine is it true you have to relocate your team to build a stadium? i hope not il probly rent the ps2 version soon

I'm really enjoying it so far. However excessive the fumbling may be, it makes the game that much more exciting. I was playing online and was running the clock out and I found myself very conscience of the cover ball button and made sure to just run the ball and not juke or hurdle or spin. I found that it adds more strategy to the game and a real sense of urgency when you are on defense to strip and hit the ball carrier hard. Overall an awesome game on XBOX 360. Best madden yet. I can't wait to see what you guys have got for next year.

Hey, thanks guys for what is most certainly the best Next-gen edition of Madden Football. Now, I havent OWNED a madden game since 03 (Gamecube) since I dont buy per year, but I have played every other version waiting to see how they turn out, I could tell that how 08 looked, it was the one for me to get on next gen. Me and my bud managed to wake up early, grab it at target (whos employees were JUST as pumped to play it) and we can back to my house and played Madden matches as well as made our own teams. Too bad I lost against him with a 1-3 record, but each game we played had no greater a difference by a TD. The game was just phenominal. I dont know how we then failed to give up a CoOp game against the AI on pro...they suddenly returned a Punt to break the tie game in the last 8 seconds of the game. But thats ok, I later played a revenge game on the AI on Rookie and beat them 91 - 0, HELLO Achievements!!!

ive enjoyed the game so far but im a little upset that they dont have really any rookies on the game. I looked at the jaguars roster and they only had two rookies that they drafted and the rest didnt even exist.

I'm loving the game, and I am spendin my Maddenaliday trying to figure out all the new stuff.. just a quick question, is there a way to change a players position?? Say from DE to OLB??? And are you aware that every time you change a players # there contract gets reset to some computer generated 3 year deal... Even after the franchise has started... Looking forward to getting the game soon -- the improvements made this year are pretty crazy. I realize re-tooling the animations and all the little gameplay tweaks have been a lot of work...and judging by the reviews that have come out, they'll pay huge dividends toward gameplay. Noting that you have read the reviews, I'm sure you've also paid attention to the criticisms by the paid critics regarding presentation, platform equality, online play and a few quirks that have probably come with all these re-tooled gameplay elements (i.e. slightly frequent fumbles, etc.). Really looking forward to what you all do with the franchise next year and I've appreciated the openness of the developers with the fans as the game progresses. Though, I believe this is the first time I've posted to the board. Happy Maddenoliday.

i wouldnt say this is the best madden yet. 06 an 07 on ps2/xbox was better. the stick skills need to improve an the game seems a little laggy still but whatever we go to bestbuy on august 14th,get our sprint phones while we there and leave our girls and play all day EA SPORTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ian, Personally I've been waiting for maddenoliday and with it I'm buying a PS3... for me it is quite disapointing as several reviews say... 30 fps on PS3??? I read that this affects not only visually the game but also on how much responsive is... do you have any comments on this??? Is this a real big issue to maybe jump on buying a 360 instead???

I got my madden 2day. Sumthin I didnt plan on after last year's dissapointment on the 360. I must say I am highly impressed this year. I figured through the build of NCAA 08 that madden was gonna be great this year and it has proven itself within the 1st day of me making my purchase. Last year, the things that killed me was the rosters....and thats still sort of a problem this year. Retired players once again made the roster. So I would like an update soon. Also, Mike Vick is on the game...im a fan myself but I hate how people misuse him online....by constantly running. So with that update he's gotta go because he's basically gone. Another thing was the no-FATIGUE thing last year. Glad that was addressed this year. One thing I have a problem with though, is the hall of fame thing, I dont feel its fair for the CPU or myself to be able to sign them as free agents in dynasty mode. Is there away to turn this option off??? Or does it have to happen??? Just giving you what u asked for. But I really would like to know about that hall of fame situation....thanks.

I got mines and midnight which will probably be a tradition from now on and played almost all night trying to get a customed to all of the new stuff.

How am I spending my Maddenoliday? My jaw is still on the floor with Tim Rattay's season of 4700 yards passing, 45 tds 9 ints and Ron Daynes 1500 yard seasons with a 5.0 avg along with every other running back in the league looking and putting up stats like Barry Sanders. What the hell happened to the realism in Franchise Mode? why is every QB putting up Peyton Manning stats and all RBs putting up Barry sanders like stats? No QB throws for over 15 INTs the whole season!! I hope you guys have a patch for this.

Madden-holiday clearing beats out Christmas!!!! This is my favorite day of the year by far!!! The way I spent my madden-holiday was through playing play now games as my favorite team, the 49ers, and tomorrow I'm gonna delve into franchise and superstar mode. Can't wait! great job EA, I'm so happy!!!!

Injured a few fingers and it seems i won't be playing irl next weekend in the playoffs, but luckily the countdown ticker for EU release of Madden 08 in EA-link is closing to zero so i'll be playing at least madden in the weekend... no finger injury is going to keep me from grabbing my rumblepad

I am a dedicated Madden fanatic. My birthday is usually only a few days from it's release date. It has always been my favorite present. My girlfriend waited for it's midnight release and got me a copy for my ps3. I never bought the first release of Madden for ps3, because after renting it, it was obvious that it was just another ps3 game hastily made for a relatively illconcieved underconsumed computer. I thought with the sale of advertisment space in the newest Madden, EA would have to invest more into the programing ,and game interface. So I waited for the next season. But now, I am exacerbated that you can't change camera angles. Though I do not have a high def televison as of yet, you would think with the exqusite graphics of the next gen machines, one might just "watch" a game. You can't within your franchise (i haven't tried it on the play now feature). You cannot play three quarters of your game, then watch the rest of your game by moving the 1st player controller over as you could in previous Maddens. More importantly... there is No coach mode! You cannot pick plays, and then watch the amazing graphic realism. Even though in the past versions of madden the coach mode ridiculously made you press x continuosly to hike the ball on every play. Now you only have the option to simulate entire games, quarters, or do a monotenous x pressing to watch the computer print words to describe plays in a snailpaced nausium of nondescript, infinitally small letters and abbreviations. Speaking of... isn't the most important part of drafting, scouting, trades, research, and analysis reading. Why not concentrate on that? Instead of moving graphics, microscopic letters, and mind-bogglingly small numbers, make them large and the focus of the page. I like the art, for real, but please make the vital info of rookies available. There is no way to see the length of their contracts in a fantasy draft. Another point is... if your a coach or GM in the NFL. You alread have access to draft reports. You hire people to scout. The play to get information about rookies is lame. especially since most of them are totally unrealistic in what they might discover about any particular player. When does a rookie go up against his prospect teams players? Never, until their signed. It's just uneccisary. Where is my scout that I pay to get this information. I want to play games and championships. Make the players drills realistic, they just aren't. Where's the progression? How 'bout a push sled, or tires, or "oklahoma drills", or scrimmages to get your whole team ready for a big game... I don't know the drills just seem lame. I've only played for four hours, I am really trying to like it. I just hope to see more user friendly and increasily intuitive player interfaces, the proportions are way off. (like I said maybe it will help when I get my tv in sept.) Blu-ray and no half time show? Still?

Of course, by playing Madden 08. Great job on the 360, fellas. The game's feeling pretty good. I ain't mad I spent $60. Y'all could patch the PS3 Madden 08 tho, so my cousin can get his 60fps on too!

talk about disappointing? i cant believe what you guys did with the pc version. unbelievable. i even bought the guide a week before the game. im amazed to see that hardly anything in the guide is even in the pc game. thank you for not charging us the full $60. that would've really been pouring salt in an open wound.

I was able to play a few games on the official Maddenoliday 2008. I have to say that I love the gang tackling, I'm so used to not putting a second man on a tackle... it's awesome. Can't wait for the Madden Challenge dates to be posted.

Love the game so far.  Would definitely like to know when the first roster update is coming.  As a suggestion, maybe you guys could have that roster update ready on the release date.  Thanks a bunch!

It's a great game, no doubt about that, but I have one complaint. Why do you have a radio broadcaster in there, last year I was only able to stand the guy for one season, and here he is again, bring Al Michaels and John Madden back, it is his game, so put him in it.

ONLINE ROSTER UPDATES? As someone who is waiting another year to move from ps2 to ps3, the only real exciting change to '08 for ps2 is the rosters...and they're not right.  Jeremy Bloom a free agent? Culpepper a Dolphin? Mike Minter not retired? Mike Vick, uh?!

Next year's Madden, make sure to add a practice squade even if its only 5-10 players deep!! The fun of madden is turning scrubs into icons. A practice squad would add so much to franchise mode, please add it next year...myself and fellow maddeners have been wanting it for years!

The gameplay is fantastic!  Very realistic, in fact, the most realistic yet to date.  The players ability to read plays and actually INTERCEPT those chance throws that you know should be picked off, that were not in the older versions is great...still getting used to it -- but great!  The hits are just awesome too, such power and dexterity in them, and REAL injuries in the online mode are in, great, I love it!  And if you play a lagger who keeps using the same play or players to get you, they end up either injured or just too weak to move on in an efficient manner...nonetheless, it's real, it's here, and you have to buy this!

How do they not see in Franchise Mode when you simulate, i.e. Peyton Manning 2 TDS 0 INTS, but yet Champ Bailey has 4 INTs to his name and you check the log again in that game to see if Manning really threw 4 picks and it says 2 TDS 0 INTS?

It's not that hard to pick that up becuz it was there last year on the 'Next-Gen' 360 version.  Some is gonna get fired.  Can't wait to hear the EA layoff for the stocks coming up next quarter. :D

Playing it on the Wii I love the tweeks on the control system feels tighter this year.  But no CAP or CAT its been a yearly event for me and my bro to make ourselves and go through franchise mode as the brownies I mean you don't expect me to play as Charlie Frye since first round QB Quinn only managed to get a 77 ovrall ranking.  I thought that was weird since out of all the QB's in the draft he was ranking 2 and 1 on most draft boards and is considered the most NFL ready QB.  But he has no Arm strength which he really should specially after i watched him in training camp he was really able to get the ball down field much better than frye on par just more accurate than anderson

When I do get the game, I'm going to first play a play now game to see just how responsive it is, then I'll either start my franchise or play as Brady Quinn in superstar mode. Merry Maddenoliday!

Please for the love of god allow 4 players to play on the same team in 09...  only having 2 player co-op is a joke.

I love the new gameplay, but I don't like the new play calling. I'm sure that the goal was just to simplify and reduce the amount of data available on screen, but that doesn't mean that it can't have the "power user" features. Like what happened to using the LB/RB to switch pages on the 360? It's just that sometimes it's a pain to try and get to a defensive play during the few seconds that you have online.

And what happened to it remembering what play you called in each of the formations? That was really nice and made play selection a lot easier.

I understand that you can't make an interface that pleases everybody, but you could make options that control how things work so that the "power users" don't get screwed by simplification.

I am pleased with the improved gameplay and very disappointed with the elimination of Live Opponent from the franchise mode. I am still waiting for the year where you can play a franchise through an online mode.

This is the best Madden game yet on PS2.Not only the best Madden,but the best game I've ever boughten.Gang Tackling is cool,Fantasy Challenge is fun,Skill Drills is better than I thought.Thanks EA for putting on the best madden yet.

I got the game on Maddenoilday, but was only able to get one quick game on the PS3. It was a nce first impression, but today I'll get a lot more time with it.

WHO made up these rosters!  On average there are at LEAST 10 errors on each team.  Got my game and cant really enjoy it cause the rosters are horrible!

It would be really nice if you could use the "Invite to Game" thing with people on your Friends list on XBox Live. It's so annoying to have to go to a lobby, find their name on the list, and then invite them. You should just be able to do that directly or at least just do the "create session" thing and then invite them.

I'm sorry but this game is still has some screws loose. The big thing for me is the presentation the current is really a mundane experience. No unique experiences via presentation. The huge list on screen for coverage options is completely not necessary nor is the amount of options. It seems as though the gameplay has been upgraded which is good. The ticker and other bells and whistles have made it better than last years abysmal attempt. Please release the hostages that made madden the best game franchise and allow the current ones to go produce 10 yard fight part II. im out

I really like this game. It's way better than last years. The only problem I have is the 30 frames per second. It just seems slow on the PS3. I'll do an amazing run and then when the replay comes on I get mad because the game should be moving at the speed that the replay is moving. And the other thing is the its hard to really use the highlight stick because the game pauses so much when someone gets ready to tackle you. I hope you improve this. It seems like EA is putting more effort into the 360 versions than the PS3. But its still an enjoyable game, it would be greater with these changes.

I am very disappointed that the PS3 does not perform as well as the 360 in regards to the frames per second. This is terrible news for Playstation when their more expansive product gets outperformed, by what is supposed to be an inferior system. How could Playstation let this happen? This pisses me off to about the $500 level. I have bought PS1, PS2 over xbox, PS3 over xbox 360--I will defineately think much harder when the next generation of systems comes out. What a joke.

I have to agree with most of you on the PS3. 30 FPS and Radio Play by Play SUCKS!!! How come the PSP and PS2 have Al and Madden doing play by play? With Blue-Ray I'd figured that you could have added more options and detail to this game. You could at least put this game on 1080i or 1080p too.This is a okay Game but it should have been a lot better with a year under your belt on the PS3. Give us a download to change that Raido Guy option...AHHHHHHHH

Idk... there are a ton of fumbles not that realistic like in the real nfl.. I also dont like the mini games.. but i do like how you can just randomly fall in the rain makes it realistic cant wait for next yearss

I have a PS3 and once again, I am disapointed. I bought both versions of Madden 08 for the PS2 version and the PS3 version. I have since returned the PS3 version. The graphics on the PS3 version are AWSOME!!! But that is where it stops. I have so many things I could list that descirbe where the PS3 08 version falls short, that I would be typing for a while. Guys its simple. Take ALL the functionality of what you have in the PS2 version (for Playstaion) and add the graphics of the PS3 version. THEN you will have a WINNER. So for now, I will play the PS2 version of Madden 08 in my PS3 and wait until 09.

Hey ian good game guys this as my 4th year getting madden at midnight, i waited outside of gamestop and i was 4th in line then gamestop had a triva game and the winner would win a EXCLUSIVE 360 madden 08 faceplate i told the guy next to me "i want that damn faceplate" so there where like 50 people in line and everyone was participating...so i answered a few questions and the question i was most proud of answering (because no one else knew it) was "in 2005 who threw the least interceptons for the year?" and right away my hand shot up and i said "jake plummer with 7 ints" and the crowd was impressed to say the least, so when it came down to it i was the one who won the madden 08 faceplate, so after that i payed for my game went home at 12:35 am and applied my new faceplate on my 360 and got into the game and was not dissapointed thank you for this years madden it is 100 times more improved from previous years and even if it wasnt that good i just dealt with it and played because plain and simple i love football and you guys are doing the best you can thanks for making madden 08 the best maddenoliday ive ever had see everyone else next year at midnight for my 5th yr in row

i haven't got it yet. but i'm planning on it. it's kinda unfair that the 360 and the ps3 have more modes then the xbox and the ps2. peopple who own a ps3 or a 360 have championship ring mode where u can create a ring and make it bigger and with more carots and diamonds when ur gamer level goes up. then when ur done, u can actually buy it from some place in indy who actually make the super bowl rings. they will actually wear the ring that u made from a game. that's pretty awesome. but it's not awesome 4 me because i havea regular old xbox

why dont you have madden announcing? what happened to storyline central? what happened to training camp? All of the things that you guys had on previous madden games are gone why? those are the things that I loved about the game. Great game (360) However this is one small problem. Some teams uniforms are not correct. (Panthers' Blue and silver uniforms don't have the black stripe on the socks)Will there be a patch to fix some of the issue with the game?

Maddenoliday rules! Especially if you are a Mac OS X user! Way to go EA devs for rockin' out a Mac version as promised. If you didn't know, I am being sarcastic because despite several public promises to the contrary, EA was NOT able to release the Mac version on time. Oh well, the CEO still looked pretty cool on stage with Jobs at WWDC, I guess thats what really counts. Will it ever be released???

Great game Ian you guys did a really good job on delivering what you promised this year. Which was pure dynamic game play. It was great to finally meet all the faces behind the names and talking to you guys about future features and what not. I'm actually more exited about whats in store for 09, but I have a great game in 08 to hold me over. Great job! Now this is football. After years of playing Madden on an X-Box I shelled out the big bucks last year for an X-Box 360 and Madden 2007. Took pictures of the 360, packed it all up and was all set to sell it because Madden just didn't feel good on it, but something back there convinced me to hang in there until Madden 2008 came out. Boy, am I glad I did! The gameplay is crisp and realistic and it's a joy to play. There is a lot to like about this year's game. Thanks!

Man, please can we turn HoF players off in franchise? Maybe I just haven't found it yet . . . there's a million menus and a billion options.

We are serious madden gamers and are very impressed with the idea behind the new game but very disappointed that all of the icons on the screen seem to look a little generic. i mean you dont see stuff like that when you are watching a game on t.v., like big circle with a rocket under the quarterback, thats for kids games! it takes away from the realism that 07 offers. The next gen system is supposed to make the experience more real which is good however,in our opinion the game looks even more fake and think you should have never put those funny icons on the play screen. i own a 360 and my brother has the ps3 and he is disappointed that the controller config has changed for ps3 gamers. also, the men sure fumble alot and thats a little hard to believe, especially since we have been maddeneers since the first game ever made. Madden 2007 is the best madden game that has ever been made and the next gen experience with 07's format would make for a better Madden 09! We hope EA sports takes this into consideration. Sincerely, the best madden gamers of all time!!

I love the game! I have to agree that this is the best addition of Madden to date. Like many others I've been a die hard fan of Madden since '92. The good things about the game far outway the bad. I'm not gonna sit here & go on a rant about the negative but I just have a few comments..1st, would all you crybabies quit complaining about how bad the online gaming is! News flash, the majority of people don't play online! Look it up it's a fact! I'm not knocking all of you who play online, but the main focus of a "football game" should be gameplay! This years addition has the most realistic gameplay I've ever seen in a videogame! Now granted it's not perfect but I challange you to honestly tell me a game that has done better in that aspect. If most of you had any idea as to the amount of work that goes into developing such a detailed realistic football game that Madden is, then you wouldn't rush to quickly complain about every little thing. Especially given that Ea normally only has about 9 months to release a game that would normally take a couple of years to make.. 2nd, to all of you who say the game is "too slow", I disagree. The game is more balanced than previous additions. This year player ratings really do matter. Most of you are so used to everyone having superturbo arcadic speed & you have to adjust to a more realistic game.. 3rd, I've been hearing a lot of complaints about a lot of fumbling & interceptions in the game. Again, you actually have to play the game like a "real" game of football. You can't just run around carelessly & just throw the ball up anymore. You can't just run around without protecting the ball. I personally love all the new additions. Now with all that said, I do have a few gripes. The sidelines still aren't up to par. I mean again, I understand you have to focus on the more important things about the game, but this is your 3rd installment on "Next Gen". It's kind of frustrating & takes away from the realism when the players on the sideline look like PS1 graphics. Ea, please for the love of God, PUT REFEREES ON THE FIELD! WHERE'S THE CHAIN GAING?. These things are a huge part of an NFL football game. Also, you have the ESPN liscence, so USE IT! The presentation is by far the weakest part of the game. And last but not least, PLEASE STOP TAKING FEATURES OUT THAT WE'RE ACUSTOMED TO HAVING IN LAST GEN & PUTTING THEM BACK IN JUST TO TELL US THEY'RE "NEW FEATURES"! That's crap EA & you know it. But all in all it's still a great game.

Game looks and plays great, but I can't believe that you left out the live opponent feature. Not having the ability to play my franchise online with my friends leaves me scratching my head. For the last two years my friends and I, which by the way none of us live near each other anymore, have played a franchise together. Using the transfer kit we shared the file and played the franchise online with the live opponent feature. Without that ability this game will be sent back within the week. Next time spend less time on the mole on Brian Billicks face and more time on aspects that really mean something to the consumer.

Great game everything I expected; although the DBs and LBs have superhuman abilites...turnovers are wayyyy too much...is there a patch for it any time soon? By the way I have a deficancy of rain on my left side of the screen when I play a rainy game...will there be a patch for that as well?

DISAPPOINTED by EA's care for PSP users. The PSP version is just nothing different from the past years. i finally know why EA didn't want to answer my question about how many new features will be included in the PSP version. ONE. ONLY ONE. and the read and react system isn't even running like it should be. it's just like an extra icon flowing there doing absolutely nothing. EA only put that ONLY feature in so that psp version doesnt LOOK being LEFT BEHIND. but it is being LEFT BEHIND. This year might be a great year for XBOX360 and PS3, but it's DEFINITELY a ridiculous presentation for the PSP version. TALKING about bringing back EA's franchise? You will never accomplish that goal with this kind of HONESTY and LOYALTY for your customers. by the way, I personally think that the super star challenge is just LAME, why will you even trying to take something that had failed in NBA Live 06 TWO YEARS AGO?

Is it out the question to think that there will be a patch in the near future that will fix the framerate/slowdown issues that are plaguing the PS3 version? Really sad if this isnt the case...its not like EA doesnt have the money to do it...

These player editing glitches/mishaps are ridiculous. We need to do something NOW about these glitches... 1. Edit a player and his contract defaults to 3 years. 2. Edit a player and his arms look like tree trunks. 3. Edit a rookie and his age will change.

Is there ever going to be a madden game where it is actually like a real live game? I mean like half time shows that can be skipped by pushing a button if you so choose, or taking a game break to see highlights from another game, or during the superbowl a pregame show with the jets flying over and and the national anthem being sung and a halftime show, and pregame introductions a little better then showing them just coming out the tunnel all at the same time. And on madden 07 I did a three-peat but madden and michaels pretend like it was the first superbowl i had been in, why don't they acknowledge a back-to-back or even a three-peat for that matter? Issue a patch for the fumbles. It's ridiculous. The interceptions are a little over the top, too.

I'm really starting to enjoy the game as I'm getting used to the nuances of the upgraded AI. I initially thought there was alt of excessive fumbles, but went to covering up the ball and less use of the speed burst and juke buttons and lo-an-behold the fumbles stopped. As for the INT's, I learned playing NCAA 08 that you can no longer just throw the ball into coverage. I now find myself reading the defense alot more pre-snap and making adjustments based on wat the defense is doing. Fors the most part, if it's not there, don't throw it and the INT's don't rack up. I'm a tad disappointed in the lack of option in the player editor and seemed to have found a bug or two in the editor (player sizes change after editing equipment and saving). Half the WR's in my roster file are now built like Triple H, but I can look past that for now. I truly hope you guys bring back a play-by-play crew for next year. The radio announcer really takes away from the realism of the game. You guys defintely got the gameplay on lock.

Good improvements more in line with what we have come to expect from EA. Have to admit though, that it does suck that the ability to edit a player does not allow you to change his position. I mean who cares about editing his college! I want my corner to move to safety and my LB to play some end on occasion. Guess Ill have to wait until next year for that.

I need some help from the Madden community. I am a fan of Madden and have had the game since 2002. However, I made a huge mistake and chose the GameCube as my first console. To this day that's the only platform my family has. However, for Madden 08 (which I don't have yet) I want to move on to a next gen console, preferrably the Xbox 360. The Circut City I went to yesterday didn't even have Madden for the Gamecube. However, I did get the Strategy Guide for Madden, and saw that the next gen versions of the game were far superior to the current gen versions. We have the money to get the 360, but both my dad and my sister want to get a Wii sometime soon. From what I've read in the guide, the Wii does not have the same features for Madden as the 360 and PS3. My dad said that I could get the 360 no sooner than Christmas, but last night he made a new deal with me; I can get the game once I get an A on a test in each of my first term classes. The problem is that school starts September 7, a day after the regular season starts, and I was hoping to have the game by then. I talked with my dad. I thought the deal over this morning and modified it to something like this: I chip in $150 to get the game and the 360 before the regular season starts, but have to promise that I will get an A on a test in each of my first term classes. If I don't, I get the game taken from me for the entire second term. My mom refuses to by both a 360 and a Wii. What should I do?

So far I've played the game a couple of hours for the PS3 and it's awesome. But my only complaint is that EA should really consider giving us (PS3 Owners) the option of being able to choose if we want to use the new PS3 controls or the classic and O so wonderful PS2 controls to play the game. I do not like that R2 is now speed and X is stiff arm. I jut hope that EA can just consider the thought and try to add that as an option for next years Madden. FNF Up! Peace.

Knowing that you only put up mostly positive remarks, just know that this game is pure crap. 2007 made it too easy to pass and too hard to rush. Now it's backwards. When you make 2009, pay attention to what you did well in the previous game, and keep that quality. It's just plan stupid (almost as stupid as Madden himself, that senile fat useless piece of lazy ***). This game does involve passing, which is important in football. It must be a feature that is usable. I don't know how or why you guys decided to make it literally impossible, but you fixed the rushing issue 2007 had. That game (2007), was literally impossible to rush. Now it's the passing game. For God's sake, make an effort at making it like football.

I hope that someone quickly fixes the draft class glitch. EVERY time i try to edit any player from ncaa that I draft on madden such as HB #5 or #QB #10's name it turns him into a 26 year old from alabama. that gets old especially when players are being turned into 26 years old instead of their age like 20 or 21 that shaves like 5 years off their playing time.

I'm angry because my Madden 08 was shipped on the 13th, but I STILL don't have it! Whoever is shipping my game should hurry the crap up before I go totally insane!!

GAme is okay for the PS3..I expected more but for the most part the game is enjoyable. I wish more signature style was added to the game, that the tape jobs were better, that the players wore towels, and that the frames for the PS3 were equal to those seen on the Xbox 360..So to Mr. Ortiz and Ian Cummings, enjoy your madden holiday but please start taking suggestions from the masses and get to work on making madden 09 the best video game ever asap

1. Every game that you are playing with a team who isnt talked about much are very one sided. I used the vikings one game and ther were 5 fumbles by half-time. Its unrealistic. 54 different players had fumbled is. Passing is pretty much impossible, I watched a replay where the bears blitzed everyone but the 4 guys covering my receivers. Williamson is a speed back and didnt outrun urlacher. That is pretty sad. I was very excited about the new madden, and am honestly very dissapointed about it.

Im gettin madden 08 tomorrow, but im pretty bummed i cant get my parents to buy me a 360/ps3. The game looks really cool on the next gen systems, but from what ive heared, isnt really too great. i'm still looking foward to getting it for ps2 tomorrow, and for now, just hoping i can get my parents to buy me a next gen system some time in the near future. I can definatly say that this game is better then previous ones, but EA still have a ways to go. Most of the wish list requests and complaints, we shouldnt even be discussing, because you should have done them by now. Most of the reviews I saw were giving you 8's and and mid 8's, but I remember when Madden really never got less the 9's if not higher. A definate step in the right direction, but you guys are supposed to be setting the standard by which all other games are to strive for(and not just other sports games). There are way to many inconsistancies, and things that should be "in the game" that are not. Even the the things that seem small to some( running styles, correct rosters, correct height and weight(especially since we cant change them ourselves, player models(k'ers should not look like LB's), clear visors,running mecahnics(Calvin Johnson's Randy Moss's long stride speed vs. Devin Hester's or LT's quick stride turnover speed, player ratings(stop equating season production, and populartiy to actual skill set when it is not warranted. Vince Young clocks a mid 4.5 40, but he is so much faster then some LB's who clocked the same speeds), these things should should not be insignificant to you guys as game designers. Sometimes it seems like you guys purposely leave stuff out, bring it back the next year and promote as "new" or the "return of." Your the best selling game right now, not because you made the best game, but more so because football is truly america's sport, and football is what we want. Hopefully you guys go back to the days when it was a an automatic thing to get Madden. The days when we didnt hope it was good, we knew it was the best game period.

Madden for the PS3 is okay..The characters still run like zombies, the players really have no distictive antics that seperate them from one another, and the edit player options are limited to say the least. Players models in 09 need to have greater diversity. Namley unbuckled chin straps, untucked jersey's, skill players wearing towels, handwarmers, more shoe selections, better QB throwing graphics, shoulder harnesses for players with injusred shoulders, more fluid in game graphcs, better tape jobs that are less bulky, different sock styles (short, doubled up, lots of white showing.

wow! i just gotta say wow its great Madden 07 sucked but 08 is awesome on the 360 but there are alot of things that really bug me like when you throw a pass two a someone even though you guys fixed the foot sliding thing for almost everything else the receivers rarely ever catch a pass w/ out sliding! cant you make the receivers hands go get the ball insted of their whole body?! also the defensive backs make alot of weird superhuman interceptions and it really ticks me off! they can be standing backwards spin around really fast then their body slides ten feet w/ out any effort to go get the ball!!!!!! their needs to be refs on the fields and have them fall down if they get ran into or something and make the sidelines look more realistic it is sickening to look at it!!!! and the radio announcer is getting really cheesy and annoying make madden and al michaels announce again. please!!!! gang tackles were a major addition and completely amazing but you should find a way to make goal line stands and inside running games more interesting like acctually pushing the whole line and not just one guy and piles of players after tackles from everybody jumping on to the tackles it would be kewl to have people getting up off of piles also injured players should have some sort of assistance off of the field like coaches help him hobble off or trainers w/ a gator come load him up also put some field goal nets on the game... you guys put cameras on the field goal posts but not any field goal nets and finally the atmosphere sucks in the games!!!!! Monday night games, playoff games, and especially the superbowl should be completely different than the pre-season or regular season games oh srry one more thing field goals and punts need to be blocked once in a lifetime!!!!! geese!!!!! overall Madden 08 is the bomb but it needs alot of minor things changed to make it the best sports game there ever was. So I wanted to wait until I have tried all of the features before I made any comments. First and formost, what happend to Live Opponent? That was a great feature and helped "satisfy" people who wanted online leagues because atleast I could invite my friend into a Live opponent game that I started from my league and he could play spoiler. then to top it off I cant load files to the site anymore like on the PS2 and get him to download the game info and the start it. To you completly hate online play? You have no online leagues like other football games in the PAST and now you got rid of the option to play spoiler in someone elses league...... dumb!! Second, the Superstar mode is cool, its nice to be able to take over a rookie and see how you can do as that person...... like it. I am a little upset that EA spent more time and money adding thigs like the ring and being able to order it (stupid) than doing something like online leagues or at least prefect the Live Opponent or somethign to be able to have a league set up to alow you to play someone else than the CPU!

ian. this madden is the best yet.....i picked it up for my new 360 and on tuesday morning and couldnt wait....i had been hearing about the lateral and was excited about that but you producers never talked about it...so i got it home and i was like well i wanna see how hester is and i started returning and i hit the LB and he fake pitche thereofr i knew it was LT, i love the lateral but i wish you could actually throw the bakll like a QB not much of a difference and the radio announcer isnt too good and i dont like the screen TV that says like short, first down, second quarter not rrealistic, but erything else is great thanks you for the greadt madden year Ian

good game but the PS3 is running on 30fps which sucks if the 360 is running at 60 fps. Why is it not fair for every platform

Has no one mentioned the INTERCEPTION issue? How could you guys publish a next gen game that can't even count stats right? When you sim, it will show that a QB threw 1 interception, but when you go look at the defensive stats, it will credit that defensive player with 2 interceptions! Can you guys just acknowledge that this is a glaring mistake?

Don't let all the comments about turnovers deter you from keeping that aspect of the game the same next year. It's perfect. It's not the game...it's the user. I was turning the ball over way to many times the first couple of times I played it. I was pissed at first as well... but what it boils down to is I wasn't making proper reads and I wasn't using RB to hold on to the ball. Now the turnovers are less if any at all. Yeehaw!! A few things to fix though... 1. Kick off into the endzone happen way too often. 2. Need Camera angles back 3. Need to slow down the play clock or make it an easier way to scroll to specific players on defense(or offense) to change their assignment. It's impossible to do in time.(maybe designate one button to pull up a cursor that we could point directly at one of our defenders...and once we click on him we can change his assignment?? Sounds genius to me!) 4. I love you guys...but...I really think that the vision cone needs to be 86'd. In theory, it was a brilliant idea, but in all honesty we already have to read the field to throw. Adding another button to do this is too much. Especially now with the game moving so much quicker. That's it for now. You guys are doing a fantastic job. If you wanna throw a job offer my way, by all means, do so. LOL

This year Madden have stepped its game up. The gameplay is the BEST BY FAR. The AI is much better than last year which makes it a more realistic experience. On passing plays you have to be very smart with each pass because the defense is roaming, and when rushing the ball in tight game situations the defense try to strip the ball so now you cant just use the highlight stick all the time. But beside all the good about the gameplay, the game has flaws. First, the defense do not look back at the ball on a lot of routes but can turn around and jump up and intercept the ball AT THE LAST MOMENT. In real life if the defense isnt looking for the ball they jump up or throw their hands up to deflect the ball, they dont pick off every thing come their way(PLEASE FIX 4 09). Second thing is the sidelines. They look like PS1 graphics, there is no chain gangs, referees, security, cheerleaders or FIELD GOAL NETS. Third thing is the PRESENTATION, how can you have football not incorporated with real life commentators and ESPN. WE dont like listening to the Radio announcer, its not real and since you have the ESPN licence why not make the game like it is on television. A NEW MODE, AFTER EVERY WEEK IN THE FRANCHISE MODE YOU CAN GO TO A SPORTSCENTER TYPE OPTION TO VIEW THE KEY PLAYS OF ALL THE GAMES THAT WEEK.THINK ABOUT IT BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE COOL. DO IT SOMETHING LIKE YOU DID IN THIS YEARS GAME, AFTER EVERY GAME HAVE HIGHLIGHTS YOU CAN GO TO BUT HAVE SOMEBODY CALLING WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE GAME AS IT HAPPENS. I APPRECIATE ALL THE EFFORT YOU GUYS PUT INTO THE GAME AND IT HAVE PAYED OFF. THIS GAME IS COOL.

Unbelivable how you guys made madden 08 on PS3..... C'mon guys is just unacceptable to play on 30fps.... You have to tap the hike button like two times to snap.... And much more..... But well you guys have a last chance with madden 09 on PS3....

Best next-gen verion yet. I enjoy the having to cover the ball to avoid more fumbles. Enhanced pass defense for CPU players is great(the corner route is no longer a gimme). I very much dislike the weapon system. I know Champ is a shut-down corner, and that Briggs is a great tackler by their ratings. I think it is a little hokey for madden standards. Thank you for putting in 100 ratings! Truly giving those elite players their due.

Really dissapointed. I have the ps3 version and it's buggy as hell. It freezes durring tackls, and durring camera angle changes. There are also weird screen glitches when the loading bar is on screen. This combined with the low frame rate, bellow average graphics, and excessive fumbles(6 in a row last night) really dissapointed me. while the gameplay is good these issues really detract. It feels like they just ran out of time and didn't finish the game. too bad. It could have been great instead of just ok.

It's okay. The gameplay is as advertised. however, there are lots of features that are left out...again. No franchise online (that's what I've done for the last 7 years with my buddies), no packages (it's hard to switch from deuce to reggie), the pre-game drills in franchise are retarded, I barely have enough time to get to my formation let alone call a play in online mode, trading in franchise mode is really ugly and super slow. still no new uniforms. Of course if you gusy did give us everything tha twe want, you might lose job security. I doubt I will be able to play this very long with only 1 online mode. booo!

Madden still hasn't gotten over the Immaculate Reception I see as he has KEVAN BARLOW (are U kidding me?) with the #32 jersey on in a Steelers uniform. Kevan Barlow??? I bet Franco Harris was happy to hear that!!! Grow up, big guy......you lost that game more than 25 years ago.

Great game

This is without a doubt the best madden game... weapons idea is a great addition... still there room for improvement (like more jersey selections, 60fps on the ps3, and changing the radio announcer) but you guys did an amazing job on '08... I dont see how anyone could prefer 2k football over madden anyone else notice that in franchise mode when you have more than 4 weapons on the field at a time that only 4 icons show up? is this just a ps3 thing or is it for both consoles?

I really looked forward to this game but honestly it is a big dissapointment. Yes I bought the PS3 version and it's just not right. You got rid of Madden calling the game, the time out score board is lame, the game play is choppy, The kicking feature because of the choppy game play is hit or miss. Really guys I love EA but can you get me a refund on this game.

i love the game, if there is one thing that bugs me its that players who are suppose to be fast still get caught from behind even with the turbo button, when hester is 100 spd how does he get caught in the open feild by a DL once he breaks loose? also all of the icons are pointless, the one that is awesome is the smart player, now i dont understand why you can only use it once then it resets, i would think that if you can read a play then you can read it not just once, come on, players like peyton should be able to read a play alot faster by sending people in motion to see if they are man or zone please fix this, and last you dont even have time to pass, and make it so they Y button is only to pass to the Y rec. it makes it diff. when you try to pass it to them

This game is stupid.  Too many turnovers on for both teams.  There are countless turnovers, it's annoying, and makes the game overly boring.  I played a game that had no points for almost a full 3 quarters...just before a field goal that was 1 play from almost being a turnover.  I then had a touchdown pass to Daunte Stallworth that was on the money to take the lead (since it wasn't I who scored the field goal)...and yet again, a turnover...he dropped the ball after taking a couple of steps and back the other way it went.  The game is a huge piece of crap.  I will never buy Madden again becuase there are too many turnovers.  I used to love them when my team would get a turnover, but it happens too often that I just know it don't deserve it.  I would rather both sides get more points rather there be this many turnovers.  I don't care if the other team gets an average of 2 touchdowns per game, just so long as the turnovers are not as frequent.  This game is extremely boring now, and I blew 60 bucks on it.  I've come to recognize this game not as a football game, no, I recognize it as turnover ball, or Madden Ball.  Football is a game that has yet to have a video game base itself on for this year.  Madden 07 came close, but there was no running game in that one (which madden 08 impoved on, but the turnovers is just horrible).  You guys could have made a great game, too bad...now you just have compliments from people who enjoy a game of back an forth with nothing to show.  The top replays each time I finish a game is roughly 80-100% interceptions or fumbles by both sides...I personally like the touchdowns in football.  The long passes, and the great running by the RBs or HBs.  I guess Madden probably get overly excited with turnovers...too bad that's not what happens in real football...well no where near as much, at least.  To those who enjoy this game, you all must be very very boring people who probably don't know what a touchdown is...and you probably get confused as to what a touchdown is when you watch the real thing on TV.  Madden is not football.  This really must be the reason why it's not called Madden Football, or Madden NFL, because it would have to limit the amount of turnovers by about 95-99% for it to be anything like it.
