Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday. Mine was full of food and football, as is always the case. I haven't had a chance to check all of my emails before working on this week's report, so keep sending your topic suggestions for next week (look below for more info on this).
A few weeks ago I talked about my Madden league woes. With only a few weeks left in the regular season, I still haven't been able to defeat a human opponent. I regularly destroy the computer and then choke big time when I play a game that matters. The good news is that regardless of my poor play, I'm still a lock to win the NFC East with my Redskins. I've never had a Madden slump quite like this one. It's frustrating because I win a lot of meaningless practice games against good players and can't seem to pull out wins that really count.
Today I drove to Tampa Bay and watched my Redskins lose a heart breaker to a pretty good Bucs team (I have the sunburn to show it). I couldn't help but notice the similarities between the real life Redskins and my Skins Madden team. Both of us have dropped tough games to the Packers, Patriots, Eagles and Bucs. Both have a solid defense, and can move the ball on offense but can't seem to capitalize in the red zone. The real life Redskins are hurting on the injury front as well. Right Guard Randy Thomas has missed significant time, and Sean Taylor is hurt as well. My own Skins Madden team is missing Clinton Portis for the remainder of the season.
Maybe I'm just a sympathetic fan, recreating some of the same close defeats I've witnessed watching TV on Sunday. Maybe it's just a coincidence, or maybe I'm just not as good on the sticks as I used to be. Whatever the reason, I'm hoping that both Raczilla's Redskins and the real life Washington Redskins can turn it around in the coming weeks. Will I continue to follow the path of the actual burgundy and gold? If so, here's to hoping for a win next week!
As promised, I want to give you guys a chance to help choose next week's topic. Shoot me a note at footballcommunity@ea.com or on my profile on EA SPORTS World and
tell me what you'd like me to talk about next week. I'll choose my
favorite idea and the person who sent it will receive a complete 28
card set of Madden NFL 08 cards featured in packs of Donruss Gridiron Gear Football. See you next week!
